Purpose

The SEP Book Club mission is to promote literacy, increase an awareness of cultures and strengthen a life-long commitment to learning and sharing knowledge. Book Club members can be seen at local coffee houses and book stores enjoying fun, food, and fellowship. Students are encouraged to share their voice and opinions about what they are reading.

In 2007, Book Club members journeyed to New Orleans to share $3,000 that they raised in efforts of rebuilding schools and communities damaged by Katrina. In 2008, the members expanded their outreach to Africa. Together with elementary students, the Book Club created a dozen books for children in Africa. Through the books, the Club hoped to aid in global education, peace and happiness. Book Club members also led schoolwide efforts in raising funds for first aid in Haiti.  The Book Club has earned and awarded $2500 worth of Senior Scholarships to five Book Club members over the past four years.
