Here's how you can take advantage of this free service & sign up for e-mail and text message alerts:
- Click on "Sign Up!" in the Main Menu at https://schoolalerts.iowa.gov. This will take you to the "Enterprise A&A" screen for the State of Iowa. If you already have an account with the State (say, for another onlne application), there's no need to create another one.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to enter your name and e-mail address, and create secret questions and your password. This step involves obtaining a code from an e-mail sent to you to confirm your registration.
- Once you have created and confirmed your account registration, you will be taken back to the School Alerts site where you can click on "My Subscriptions" on the left.
- Click on "School Alerts Subscriptions Wizard."
- After Search Option, click the "Schools" radio button (NOT school districts).
- Enter search term "Southeast Polk."
- Hit "Go" (NOT Get All) and the system will show you a list of all SEP buildings.
- Click on the building you would like to receive alerts from.
- You will then be able to submit email addresses and cell phone numbers that will receive alerts for the school you selected. Once you have typed in your first email address and repeated it in the “confirm e-mail” field, click on the “Add Email” button and your email address will appear at the top of the screen as a confirmed addition. Do the same for any additional email addresses as well as for phone numbers.
- When you are finished click “Done Adding Emails” button and you will be sent back to your subscriptions page where you will see a list of your active subscriptions.
If you would like to receive an alert from more than one school simply repeat steps a through g.
