Craig W. Menozzi Before coming to Southeast Polk, Superintendent Craig W. Menozzi served as the Superintendent of Schools for the New Prague Area Schools in New Prague, Minnesota. He previously served administrative positions in the Lakeville and Rosemount, Minnesota school districts. Craig earned his B.A. degree from Gustavus Adolphus College. MED from the University of Minnesota. EDS and Superintendent’s license from St. Thomas University. Mr. Menozzi’s career began in education in Rosemount, Minnesota where he taught physical education, social studies and coached football, basketball and baseball. While serving as offensive coordinator in football, Rosemount High School won the large school State Championship in 1981. Craig is a career educator and is a lifelong learner himself and is committed to increasing student achievement for all kids. He is passionate about student learning and has had success in raising achievement levels wherever he has been while still being able to bring fiscal integrity to the district. Mr. Menozzi enjoys sports and the outdoors. He and his wife, Vicky, reside in Mitchellville and have three adult sons: Bill, Tom, and Jon and a daughter-in-law, Greta. Craig W. Tom Hadden Board President Tom Hadden and his wife, Tina Mowry Hadden, live in Altoona with sons Jeffrey and Caleb. Tom earned a BS in Biology from Iowa State University, an MS in Environmental Engineering from Iowa State, and an MBA from the University of Iowa. He is executive director of Metro Waste Authority and keeps busy with kids’ activities, swimming, reading and sporting events. He is a board member and past president of the Altoona Campus, co-chair of the Iowa Recycling Task Force, member of the Watershed Improvement Board, representative to the Wastewater Reclamation Authority for Altoona and serves on the Environmental Management System Advisory Committee. Lori Slings Board Member Lori Slings lives in Altoona with her husband, Bob, and their four children. Isaac and Jacob and twins Grace and Corrina. A mortgage lender for Valley Bank, Lori became a certified legal assistant through DMACC, then studied at Iowa State University and Drake and Upper Iowa University. Her hobbies - when she has time – are cooking and reading, but she keeps pretty busy as a SEP Dollars for Scholars board member, member of the Vocal Music Boosters and membership director for the SEP Athletic Booster Club. Joanne Moeller Board Member Joanne Moeller, her husband, Jon, and their son, Ben, live on an acreage south of Altoona, where they raise horses. She also enjoys gardening, reading and running. Joanne received her BA from Drake University and her law degree from the University of Iowa. She is an assistant attorney general in the Iowa Attorney General’s office. Gary Fischer Board Member Gary Fischer is a 1983 SEP graduate who went on to earn a BA in Economics from Central College and a law degree from Drake University. He is an attorney and lives with his wife, Jennifer, and their four children in rural Altoona. In 2010-11, they will have students in elementary, the sixth-grade center, junior high and high school. Bill Puffett Board Member Bill Puffett and his wife Lori live on an acreage south of Mitchellville. There, they raised their two sons, David ’08 SEP graduate and Derek ’11 SEP graduate. Bill earned his BA degree from Wartburg College where he majored in Business Education and Business Administration. He currently serves as a member of the Eastern Polk Regional Development Board and the Beaver Township Trustees and is an active member of the Altoona, Mitchellville and Pleasant Hill Chambers of Commerce. Doug Roush Board Member Doug Roush and wife Kimberly live in Pleasant Hill with their three sons Mac, Spencer and Teagan. Doug earned a BA, with a major in Business Administration, from Wartburg College in 1995 and an MBA from Drake University in 2003. Doug is a Product Marketing Manager with Ryko Solutions, Inc. in Grimes. In his free time, Doug enjoys being involved in his children’s activities including sports, music and other extra-curricular activities as well as golfing. Doug has been involved with the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, local football and baseball leagues, as well as a Sunday school teacher and youth mission trip leader. Brett Handy Board Member Brett Handy resides in Altoona with his wife Melissa and their two children Morgan and Carson. Brett graduated from Bondurant-Farrar High School and has attended DMACC and Upper Iowa University. Brett works as a police officer for the City of Altoona. Brett enjoys spending time with his children and is actively involved with SEP Dollars for Scholars, Altoona Baseball League, Junior High Wrestling Program and helps run the chains at the Varsity football games.
