The Early Learning Program's primary goal is to empower parents to provide their children the best possible start in life and therefore establish a foundation for future success. The program also provides an opportunity for an early partnership between parents and the school district.
Components of the Early Learning Program:
- Home Visits include parent-child-teacher interactions with developmentally appropriate and stimulating activities to enhance a child’s learning.
- Playgroups provide opportunities for parent-child participation in learning centers and large group activities. Playgroups also provide an opportunity for networking with other parents. Playgroups meet at Clay Elementary.
- Developmental Screenings help determine a child’s strengths and needs. If necessary, teachers can connect parents with additional resources. Early literacy screenings are provided during a child’s pre-kindergarten year.
- A Lending Library with educational toys, games, story kits and books. Also available for checkout are resources such as parenting books and videos and activity idea books.
- Monthly Newsletters provide information regarding playgroup dates, songs, finger plays and activity ideas for families. View Newsletters
