When information is placed online, it becomes very public. In an attempt to keep the website a safe and secure location for community information, the following guidelines have been established.
Content
Many links on the site go to PDF files. These links are all marked with the PDF icon (
). To view these files, you will need Adobe Reader, which you can download here.
Other file formats include Micorsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. These links will be marked with the appropriate icon (
,
,
).
All users will be given the opportunity to submit information to appear on the website (subject to approval by the webmaster and community relations director).
The district website will not provide links to individual teacher websites until a district-wide platform is approved and applied on a consistent basis. A link to TeacherWeb will be provided, but no direct links to individual teacher pages through TeacherWeb will be published on the district site.
District-wide newsletters and building newsletters will be published on the district website in pdf format. Individual teacher newsletters will not be published on the district website. Teacher newsletters are distributed at the teacher’s/principal’s discretion.
Teacher research or classroom project/curriculum information is provided through Infinite Campus. Teachers are responsible for maintaining and updating their own information on the Infinite Campus Portal. A link to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal is on the district website to provide parents with access to this information, which requires a username and password.
Only activities directly related to and sponsored by the district will have information posted on the district website. Links will be posted at the district’s discretion.
The district website will not promote any for-profit businesses.
Names and Pictures
Adult names will be published using their first and last name. Student names will also be published as their first and last name.
Pictures of students will not be labeled with their names except those published in the Unifier and Rampage. Students will only be shown in photos where they are suitably dressed.
Personal details of students and staff, such as home addresses, telephone numbers, personal e-mail addresses, etc., will not be available through the website. PTA/O contact information will be published with permission.
Maintenance
The webmaster will check material before it is uploaded to ensure that it is suitable for publication. Any persons named on a web page may ask for their details to be removed.
The website will be regularly reviewed for accuracy and updated as required. This review will occur at least annually. It will be the responsibility of the webmaster, school management and staff to conduct the review.
Privacy
Adults have the right to refuse permission to publish their image on the published site. Parents have the right to refuse permission for their student’s image to be published on the site.
Those wishing to exercise this right should express their wishes in writing to Nicole Lawrence, clearly stating where the image is located within the district website.
